Mr. ALFRED King, (Permanent Secretary) Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, your correspondence was well received in the SN dated Feb 4 and titled, “Ministry of Sport disturbed by procedure used to sensationalise the apparent sloth in progress of synthetic track.” I did publicly (via the dailies) suggest that a comment be forthcoming from the office mentioned above and commended the SN representative for highlighting with an image, the current state of the synthetic track.
However, my original contribution was vetted to the maximum when it appeared in the (newspaper); I have no control over and have to respect the Editor’s respective decisions.
The January 27th edition of the SN, under the caption, “Synthetic Track stuck at phase one,” did state something to the effect that its representative used the premises next door to the synthetic track by climbing onto the structure of a black tank to have that image taken.
It was from reading that paragraph that I penned my contribution which stated that I applaud the person for the bravery and risk taken. That was part of my original letter which was never printed and I did it independently with absolutely no affiliation with SN, but only as a contributor to its letters column.
It is now my personal opinion, as a sports enthusiast, that it is almost impossible for the Synthetic Track Project to be completed by 2012, after reading Mr. Alfred King’s correspondence.
No fault of Mr. Alfred King, but we do have to cater for contingencies when embarking on projects. These are the types of approaches which impress me, in the layman’s term I believe it is referred to as “FEEDBACK.”
