BODY Max Gym trainer Lloyd Ferreira has been charged with simple larceny.
The defendant (no address given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday and was granted $150,000 bail on the indictable charge. It is alleged that, on January 29, he stole an engagement ring, worth $300,000, property of Lana Menendez, a member of the gym.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the woman entrusted the accused with her jewel for safe keeping during one of her training sessions but forgot to collect it when she was finished.
But, when she returned the following day and demanded it, Ferreira was unable to give account for or return it to her.
A trial date is to be fixed.
