Would-be robbers heist bullets from intended victim

AT about 01:30 hrs on Saturday last, businessman Patrick De Freitas, a licensed firearm holder of Waterloo Street, Georgetown, was aroused by noise on his premises. Upon checking, he was confronted by two men, armed with a spade and a cutlass, who launched an attack on his person. De Freitas discharged rounds from his firearm, hitting one to his right thigh and the other to his left thigh.
The would-be robbers, currently under police guard at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC), have been identified as Steve Anthony (50) of Grove Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara, and Carlos Grant (41) of Charlotte Street, Georgetown.
The incident is under police investigation.
