Agriculture Minister meets, holds discussions with E/bo Coast, Pomeroon farmers, D&I workers

NEW Minister within the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr Alli Baksh, has visited several projects and interacted with scores of farmers across the Essequibo Coast and in the Pomeroon since assuming office. Last weekend, the minister met with and addressed farmers in community meetings at Aurora, Tapakuma, Better Success and Vilvoorden,
At the Auroro meeting, Minister Baksh told farmers that Government was making every effort to get the massive project moving. He said the consultant for the project was already in place, while machinery had already been acquired.
At the Tapakuma community meeting, Minister Baksh announced that three huge bridges would be constructed across the Red Lock and Capoey Conservancy Canals. He said some $24M would be spent on the project, and farmers/loggers and residents of Tapakuma, Red Lock, Mainstay/Whyaka, Lima Sands, Dredge Creek and Mc Nabb communities would benefit.
The minister also held discussions with workers of the Drainage and Irrigation Department on trench cleaning, water conservancy, sluice operations, and the monitoring of drainage and irrigation equipment/sluices across the region.
