IN response to a letter published in yesterday’s edition of the Chronicle under the caption, ‘President Ramotar should act carefully in enacting changes’ written by one Babita Soogrim, I want to categorically state that I fully agree with the letter writer.
I do understand and agree with her that it is imprudent to have one person to be Chairperson of multiple Boards while holding a full-time position in another organization.
I also agree with her point that the responsibilities of a Chair can be very demanding and, as such, one needs to be able to devote adequate time for this activity. No matter how talented someone claims to be, membership in excess of three boards while being a full-time senior executive can be counter-productive.
Also, I would like to state that I no longer have any interest in serving on any Boards in the future.
