THE Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has said it “is astonished, though not surprised, that the suspected thieves arrested by the police would claim to be staffers of the Ministry of Home Affairs.”
The agency was responding to a ‘Letter to the Editor’ which appeared in Thursday’s edition of the Kaieteur News under the caption: ‘Trunkers’ claimed to be employed by Home Ministry and Police Force’.
That letter writer had recounted what he witnessed on the evening of January 15 last, while his car was parked at the junction of Sheriff Street and the East Coast Highway.
But the ministry, in refuting the claim made by the alleged perpetrators, is also advising the public that “it does not have any person(s) in its employ to conduct covert activities of the nature referred to.”
The ministry, in a release added: “It is expected that all applicable charges will be instituted against the duo, including for providing misleading information to the police.
MoHA: No ‘trunkers’ in our employ
