FOUR more children from the Dharmic Rama Krishna School have been awarded one-year scholarships by the Reepu Daman Persaud Foundation. This brings the total number of children awarded scholarships at the school to 31 for the period 2006-2012. In addition, the Foundation has extended a further two-year scholarship to a deserving student of Essequibo to pursue the Civil Engineering Degree at the University of Guyana. He had previously received a two-year scholarship and obtained a Diploma in Engineering at the University of Guyana. The foundation is also bearing the cost of his accommodation. Another student, whose fees were borne by the foundation, was recently successful in obtaining his Accountancy Diploma.
From the period 2006 to 2011, the Foundation awarded 41 children from various regions with bursaries.
The Reepu Daman Persaud Foundation which was established in 2006 to coincide with Pandit Persaud’s 70th birthday, is a private fund contributed to by the children, god children, relatives and friends of Pandit Persaud.
The Foundation is a registered body which is governed by a board of trustees. The Foundation expended over $2M to our country’s children to assist them with their educational pursuits. The foundation wishes to sincerely thank all those who have contributed so generously to the fund.
