Family friend stole, sold gold jewel
JOSEPH Williams, of Lot 192 South Ruimveldt, Georgetown,  appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, on Thursday, and pleaded not guilty to a simple larceny charge.
It is alleged that, on January 5, he stole one gold band, valued $50,000, belonging to  Fayann Morris.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, explained that the defendant is a family friend of Morris, who left him in her home and went out, only to discover the jewel missing on her return.
The prosecutor said when Fayann contacted Williams, he admitted taking the band and took her to the person who bought it but the jewel was not recovered.
The defendant was put on $50,000 bail until January 17.
