ORILEY Small (no address given), charged with attempted murder and robbery under arms was remanded to prison yesterday by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry. The indictable charges said, on January 9, with intent to kill, he discharged a loaded firearm at Felix Allen and robbed him, at gunpoint, of a gold chain valued at $150,000.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant, who is an overseas-based Guyanese, was at his friend’s home when the accused and another man attacked him.
The prosecutor said Allen pushed the accused away but the latter shot and relieved him of his jewel and escaped.
However, the premises had surveillance cameras and the accused was identified and later arrested.
The magistrate refused bail for Small and remanded him to prison after hearing that Allen has lost a kidney, due to the gunshot wound and is still hospitalised.
Small will make another court appearance on January 16.
