THE preliminary inquiry (PI) into the Neesa Gopaul murder case resumed before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, yesterday. Assistant Superintendent of Police Jessamy was recalled to the witness stand by Special Persecutor Prithima Kissoon and gave further evidence against the victim’s mother, Bibi Sharima Gopaul and her stepfather Jarvis Small, prior to the proceedings being adjourned to January 17. Small and Gopaul are charged with murdering the former Queen’s College (QC) student, between September 24 and October 2, at Madewini, along the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
The body of the 16-year-old was found stuffed in a suitcase in the Madewini Creek near Emerald Tower Resort, apparently headless but a post mortem examination established that the head had been battered beyond recognition.
