NAZIM Ali (no address given) appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday, charged with damage to property. He pleaded guilty to the charge, which stated that, on January 3, he damaged the rear glass window of a motor car, valued $25,000, property of Sherland Marks.
Police Sergeant Gordon Mansfield, prosecuting, said the owner of the vehicle is a prison officer who parked it opposite the Camp Street jail and went to work.
Later, he was alerted, by his colleagues, that someone had broken his car window and the defendant was seen and later arrested.
Ali was fined $20,000 with the alternative of one month imprisonment.
