ISAIAH Byrol (no address given) was yesterday refused bail on charges of armed robbery and possession of narcotics. He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded not guilty to both offences.
One charge alleged that, on October 1, 2011, at Curtis Street, Albouystown, armed with a gun, he robbed Dawn Mc Donald of two gold chains worth $165,000. Particulars of the other offence said, on January 6, 2012, he had four grammes of cannabis (marijuana).
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant in the robbery operates a shop at Lot 165 Curtis Street and was sitting in front of her premises when the defendant brandished a gun at her.
The Prosecutor said the victim raised an alarm, subsequent to which Byrol fled the scene but, on January 6, the victim saw the robber and alerted a Police patrol who found a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems of the illegal substance in his right side pants pocket.
Byrol has to be back in Court on January 19.
