EVEN while there is still no word from the authorities on the three missing sailors who should have come home on Christmas Eve, their wives are still praying for their safe return and are being strong because of their children. Speaking with this publication in telephone interviews yesterday, the wives, Jewel Lewis, Kamaldai Shuckoo and Sherry Hart, said they are still praying and hoping.
The three however, said that they have been praying, fasting and is hoping for the best, since there is hope that Carl Brunette, Wexton Andrews and Ramdat Roopnarine will be returning home .

Jewel Lewis, the reputed wife of Brunette told this newspaper that, she is currently suffering from high blood pressure and has been unable to work. But she is coping so far.

Shuckoo, who has three children with her reputed husband, Ramdat Roopnarine, said that she is praying and fasting every day.

“The baby sick, and the other two children, they crying every night. His mother, she isn’t doing well either, her pressure is high,” she said.

Since her husband is the only breadwinner for the home, Shuckoo said they haven’t been doing so well, since her daughter has lessons fees to pay.
Reputed wife of the ship’s captain, Sherry Hartman said that she cries for her husband every night and prays that he return home safely.

Hartman said that her two children are unaware of the situation, and only thinks that their father is in Trinidad and will be coming home back to them.
Hartman said that her mother-in-law currently supports her financially.

The three sailors left Guyana early in December of 2011 and docked in Trinidad and Tobago. They should have been back home on Christmas Eve.
It has been approximately three weeks since the men went missing with their ship MV ‘Oliver L’, and local and regional maritime officials have mounted a search for them.
