25-yr-old stabbed to death at Mahaica abattoir

…following row over $1,000
ORIN Forde, 25, of 12 Helena No. 2, was yesterday fatally stabbed at the Mahaica abattoir on the East Coast of Demerara, allegedly by his cousin, Mark Major, following a heated argument over a thousand dollars.
Forde had received one stab wound to the stomach and was rushed to the Mahaicony Hospital where he later succumbed.
According to family members and residents from Helena No.2 who were on the scene around 08:05hrs yesterday, the now dead man showed up at his cousin’s work place at the abattoir and an argument erupted.
Mother of the suspect, Pamela Kissoon, said she is aware of the money issue between the two cousins, but it never crossed her mind that murder would be committed over one thousand dollars.
Kissoon said that her nephew, Orin Forde, returned from the interior for the Christmas season.
She said, “The boy who died is my nephew; he borrowed six thousand dollars from my son, and when he went for this money, the two of them had a misunderstanding, and anyhow, when the boy did give him back the money he only give him five thousand dollars.”
She said she asked her son to forget the thousand dollars.

She went on to say that she was informed that Forde had beaten her son terribly.
“I get to hear that he went to the slaughter house this morning and he proper beat up my son and after he beating him, his brother part the two and put my son in the slaughter house.”
“After his brother part them, he run round from behind him and was about to lash Mark with a piece of wood , Mark had the knife in his hand, cause he was about to kill a cow at the time, and took the knife and bore Orin,” kissoon said.
When this reporter arrived at the home of Mark Major, his mother, who was in tears, said that she had spoken to the two youngsters recently, encouraging them to forget about the money issue.
Brother of the deceased, Jermaine Forde, said that at the time of the incident he was outside the slaughter house when he heard his brother shouting for him.
“All I hear is my brother saying,  ‘Jermaine come, Mark bore me’, and when I went I see him bleeding  and so I take off my jersey and I hold it up to try and save his blood from getting out,” the man said.
The deceased is the father of two children, who live with their mother in the interior. The suspect has since fled the area and is in hiding.
