A WOMAN on a burglary charge was granted $100,000 bail yesterday by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry. Onika Jones, of Lot 58 Duncan Street, Newtown, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, last December 6, she broke and entered the dwelling house of Brian Archer and stole two laptops valued $480,000.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, had no objection to pre-trial liberty for the defendant but requested it be on substantial surety.
The Prosecutor said the virtual complainant secured his home and went out but, upon his return, he discovered it had been broken into and the computers missing.
The Court was told that, when contacted, Jones admitted committing the offence.
The case was put off to January 6.
