AS was evident yesterday, the poolside on the north-eastern side of the Georgetown Football Club ground was being landscaped with additional accommodation for patrons for tonight’s semi-finals and the final of this year’s Inaugural Georgetown Football Association/Banks DIH Banks Beer Knockout Football Cup which will be held at this venue.
The tournament commenced three weeks ago at the venue, which is known as the ‘Mecca’ of football in Guyana and saw a large number of patrons support same.
With the expectation of more spectators coming to enjoy what is anticipated to be exciting football, featuring displays of skilful, physical, technical and tactical conceptions of the game by the four teams in the semifinals, the authorities at the venue decided to make more accommodation available for patrons.
Sunburst Camptown, Alpha United, Beacon and Fruta Conquerors are the four remaining teams who will battle for places closer to the big prize in the tournament which is being co-sponsored by Courtney Benn Constructing Services Limited, McNeal Enterprises and The Coalpot Restaurant among others.
