Fisherman attacks police ranks with gasoline, iron rod
AT about 10:15 hrs yesterday, police ranks responded to a report of threats made against fisherman Mohan Maniram, 38 years, of Henrietta, Essequibo Coast. Upon arrival, the police said Maniram was seen in his yard with a length of iron and a container with gasoline in his hands. During efforts to arrest him, he reportedly threw the gasoline on the ranks and attacked them with the length of iron, causing the police to resort to the use of force and he was shot to his right thumb.
A search was conducted on him and 6 grammes of suspected cocaine and 2 grammes of marijuana were found in his possession.
Maniram has been admitted a patient under guard at the Suddie Hospital.
