Gun, ammunition found after motorcyclists crash
HUBERT Bartholomew and Fizal Mohamed (no addresses given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, charged jointly with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Particulars of the charge said that, on December 8, the duo had a .32 Taurus pistol and 12 live matching rounds but they both pleaded not guilty.
Police Sergeant, Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the defendants were on a motorcycle and being chased by the police and they crashed into a parked minibus.
The prosecutor said, when the ranks approached them after the crash, Bartholomew drew something from his waist and further investigation revealed that the men had the gun and ammunition.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Adrian Thompson, for the defence, admitted that the defendants collided with a vehicle but denied that they were being pursued by police.
The lawyer argued that there was no evidence of possession against his clients and requested reasonable bail.
However, Bartholomew was remanded to prison and Mohamed was ordered to post $200,000 surety until January 3, 2012.
