A tiger never loses its stripes

THE myth of “apan jhaat” (your own village) was dispelled in the 2011 elections and replaced by “kith and kin” confirmed by Freddie Kissoon in his interview with Nigel Hughes, who stated in the Kaieteur News that Africans rejected the PPP and voted APNU. I think in local Indian parlance this is called “namakaram” given the enormous improvements visible in African villages through the PPP government, but, as Neil Adams put it, “Jagdeo is to be blamed for this because he could have gone into Buxton and readily granted their request. In a similar way his quick response to the needs of the people at Mocha when they went into that area and “got things fixed”. Neil omitted what he did for Linden and Wismar and other villages along the East Coast.
In contrast, we have not seen the same alacrity in fixing problems in the PPP traditional support base which led to a crossover to the AFC and voter apathy.  That however is now history, and I hope that President  Donald Ramotar would address problems within the Indian community, especially security concerns, in order to restore voters’ confidence.
And now, true to form, APNU has called on their supporters to boycott Indian businesses, an improvement from looting, but has vowed to continue with their misguided protest, which has seen poor Roopnarine looking like a sardine among sharks. So, in order to add colour, Ram, Mike, Malcolm, Freddie, Moses and Ramjattan should join the protesters and act as a buffer against “Mittai” Sharma Channel 6 and Bhena footwear in the event James loses his patience and unleash his youths on an already hapless populace.
As the saying goes, a tiger never loses its stripes.
