Guinness Greatest in Da Street …

Final four teams face elimination tonight
THE quarter-final round of the Guinness Greatest in Da Street Competition will be contested tonight at the East Ruimveldt Community Centre Court from 18:00hrs with what is expected to be four intriguing matches.
Tonight will see Alexander Village versus Queen Street Tiger Bay, West Front Road versus Hope Street Tiger Bay, Island Allstar versus East Front Road and Back Circle versus Broad Street for a spot in the semifinal round.
On Thursday evening at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac Back Circle defeated North Last Entrance 3-2, Island Allstar trounced West Back Road 2-0, Broad Street got the better of Albouystown B 5-4 on penalty kicks while East Front Road beat Lodge Housing Scheme 5-2.
In Back Circle’s victory Daniel Favourite recorded a double to lead them into the next round while receiving support from his teammate Andy Duke. The opposition had their two goals from Travis Grant and Gerald Gittens.
Rory Lewis and Devon Hymay scored two early goals for Island Allstar to dispose of West Back Road prior to the long battle between Broad Street and Albouystown B.
Broad Street and Albouystown battled to a 2-2 deadlock at the end of regulation and extra times as Omali Nassy and Sheldon Thomas scored for the latter while Rocky and Jimmy Gravesande scored for the eventual victories. The match was then decided in a penalty shootout where Broad Street prevailed.
East Front Road’s demolition of Lodge Housing Scheme was led by Mark Hart who recorded a hat-trick while his teammates Seon McKenzie and Alvin Chase scored a goal each. Pernell Schultz scored a brace for the eventual losers but his efforts proved futile.
Meanwhile, the exhibition competition tonight will see Clippers versus Media, YMCA versus Guinness Bar, Oasis versus Upper Level and Customs versus Sweet Point.
On Thursday night Oasis defeated YMCA 1-0, Media trampled Customs 6-3, Clippers edged past Sweet Point 2-1 and Upper Level beat Guinness Bar by 2-1 also
