– to its fleet of equipment
THE Guyana National Shipping Corporation Limited (GNSC) yesterday announced that it has added two brand new DOOSAN forklift trucks to its fleet of equipment.
In a statement, GNSC said this $20.5M investment will contribute further to enhancing the efficiency of its terminal/wharf operations.
It said both of these units are five tons each, with Tier 2 Diesel engine, which is environmentally friendly.
The commissioning was done by GNSC’s Managing Director Mr. Andrew Astwood, and Mechanical Engineer Mr. Premdatt Narine along with other senior managers of the corporation, at a simple ceremony yesterday at its La Penitence wharf.
“The acquisition of these valuable equipment will enhance customer service and provide much satisfaction to all concerned,” the Corporation stated.
In handing over the equipment to the Terminal Manager Mr. Brian Duncan, the Managing Director reportedly expressed the need for care to be exercised in the operation of the units.
“These powerful forklifts with increased capacity can handle the toughest tasks in the most demanding applications with speed, power efficiency, and will improve the cargo handling capacity of the corporation,” GNSC said, adding that this initiative is part of its strategic vision to further enhance its competitive edge in the shipping industry.
