A 30-year-old man is now in a serious condition at the surgical ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital after falling from a cashew tree on to a picket fence below. Lloyd Dazzel of Wakenaam, Essequibo, recalled that around 16:15hrs Monday he was up in his neighbour’s tree, picking cashews, when the branch on which we was standing broke and he fell several feet below.
As a result he suffered a deep wound to his right leg. He was rushed to the Wakenaam Cottage Hospital where he received initial treatment and was subsequently transferred to the Suddie Hospital, Essequibo Coast.
But because of the seriousness of the wound, he was transferred to the Georgetown Hospital.
He is expected to undergo surgery today.
