DEVON Gonsalves, of Lot 571 South Sophia, was granted $100,000 bail yesterday, when he appeared before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell on a charge of robbery with aggravation. He was not required to plea to the indictable offence, particulars of which said the accused, on November 5, being together with others, robbed Lizanna Gordon of gold jewellery valued $150,000.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the victim was walking along Croal Street, also in Georgetown, when she was approached by the quartet, including Gonsalves, who took away her jewels and threatened to kill her unless she remained silent.
After the robbers escaped, the virtual complainant made a report and Gonsalves was subsequently arrested, the prosecutor related.
The case will be called again on January 31, 2012.
