Nations University hosts international education fair
TWENTY universities from Canada, the United States, the Caribbean and the United Kingdom, recently gathered at Nations University for the first International Education Fair in Guyana. The Universities represented included Ryerson University, University of New Brunswick, Lynn University, Humber College, UOIT, Wilfred Laurier, Centennial, Seneca College from Canada and SCAD, Flagler College, Art Institute, Fanshaw College, State University of New York, University of South Florida, Brockport University, Long Island University, St Georges University,   University of South Caribbean,  University of Technology and Greenheart University from  the Caribbean. Also represented were Cambridge University, London University, and the Australian Institute of Business and the ACCA programme at Nations University.
The programme was opened by the newly appointed American Ambassador, Brent Hardt, who spoke about the educational opportunities in the United States. The American Consul held two workshops during the day on how to obtain student visas. The programme was filmed by the new Educational TV Channel. A reception was held for all the exhibitors in the evening after the fair. The Canadian High Commissioner joined the exhibitors at the reception.
The programme was organized by Nations University, in collaboration with the Council of International Schools. Brandy Fransen, one of the representatives of CIS, spoke at the opening of her satisfaction of seeing so many leading educational institutions from North America and the Caribbean region gathered in Guyana. She was one of the key figures in organising the fair and encouraging her colleagues to add Guyana to the long list of the countries they visit in the region.
