LAST Wednesday, Channel Six hosted the Alliance For Change political party for one of their many campaign telecasts. The party’s representative, a young man, all fired up and enthusiastic about his party’s dream of winning the very imminent poll next Monday, mentioned the PPP/C government causing persons to line up at the Housing Ministry’s offices for the acquisition of house lots. It was the most asinine comment, among the very many others that have emanated from these opposition telecasts.
Such a comment lays bare the depth of ignorance from a political novice; but more disturbing, its level of gross ignorance.
Every Guyanese, even detractors of the administration, has paid tribute and even lavished praise on the most expansive and expensive social programme ever undertaken in the history of this nation. Tens of thousands have benefited from this visionary programme of home ownership, executed by an administration that has lived up to its promise of providing a better life for the nation’s peoples.
This misguided wannabe must know that, because of the very high demand, these lines have indeed become absolutely necessary. But those persons are prepared to be in those lines, because they have seen what other applicants have gained and are getting the desired results, because their applications are being processed, and they are therefore able to attend the innovative ONE STOP SHOP in the designated area of allocation of their house lot.
Not to worry, though, for the Guyanese working class is much more informed, educated, and wise these days. No more are they allowing themselves to be manipulated by wishy wishers. They know from which party ALL BLESSINGS FLOW – THE PPP/C.
The AFC’s campaign of gross ignorance
