Guyanese will not be fooled by APNU’s bogus poll

THE recent poll commissioned by APNU lacks credibility and cannot be taken seriously. To begin with, it has serious methodological flaws such as the representativeness of the sampled population which is highly skewed in favour of one particular ethnic group. It is clear that the poll is calculated to create a facade of electoral support for APNU, along the lines of the Dick Morris poll, which was commissioned by the AFC during the 2006 elections to create the impression that the AFC would have held the balance of power in parliament, which turned out to be a far cry from the actual election results that saw the PPP/C winning the elections by a comfortable majority.
What is perhaps more unfortunate is the hypocrisy of those who claim to represent the academic community by associating themselves with what is manifestly unscientific and clearly deficient in the rigours of any scholarly pursuit. No wonder the identity of the polling entity is witheld from the public since no academic worth his or her salt would be inclined to associate himself or herself with what could only be described as academic fraud.
Guyanese will not be fooled by such a bogus poll, which is clearly politically motivated to create a false sense of political reality.
