Peace must be kept at all costs

WHERE is the strong immediate rebuke from the private sector? When will the executive come out against this politically organised assault against politicians at meetings? I am left to believe that the Code of Conduct by GECOM is but empty rhetoric meant to play for time while actually being the facade for more nefarious destructive activities associated with the publicity -enunciated phases of some party operations.
Where will this mudslinging and terror lead? It seems that the real objective of the parties exercise is to provoke reaction from the other besieged section of the peaceful population, the silent majority.
I hereby appeal to those Guyanese and to its thousands of party members to harbour no thoughts of retaliation. I strongly advise against doing anything to satisfy the evil objectives of the preachers of hate and their political masters.
There must be no communal strife based on race or political allegiances. The peace must be kept by the majority of Guyanese population.
I denounce the evil mischief makers and race mongers. I wonder how some political leaders and its members can be a part of an orchestrated campaign of destabilisation and terror at public meetings.
The protest ostensibly against the Brazilian Governor for addressing a political rally at Lethem was a significant slap in the face of the Guyanese populace and should not be allowed in the future.
I therefore call on all those who wield influence and power or control over others to advice their members or followers accordingly – in the interest of the nation’s well being.
I feel too that they are all seized with the urgency that the crucial issues of transparency, even-handed and all-embracing democracy.
In the true spirit of Elections Day, let us show those who hope to build a political career on division and who strive to divide the working people, persons who have displayed a greed for power that they will not succeed. Let us continue to fight for the all-round development of our people regardless of race! Let us avoid those who attack, mislead and betray the people for personal and opportunistic gains.
