Windies quartet rise in Test rankings

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CMC) – Four members of West Indies new-look batting brigade have made strides in the latest ICC Test player rankings.
Marlon Samuels, Darren Bravo, Kirk Edwards and Adrian Barath all enjoyed movement in the official rankings after getting half-centuries in the second innings of the last Test in Kolkata against India.

Samuels, who stroked an entertaining 84, rose nine places to 67th while Bravo, who carved out a superb 136, jumped seven spots to 35th.
Barath’s 62 saw him move six places to 79 while Edwards rose two spots to 49th on the heels of his 60.
There was no such luck for veteran left-hander Shiv Chanderpaul who slid four places after getting scores of four and 47 at Eden Gardens.
Meanwhile, the top five of the standings remain unchanged with Sri Lankan stroke-maker Kumar Sangakkara at the summit.
