Disciplined services to get one-month bonus

– payable after services complete voting
COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF  of the disciplined services, President Bharrat Jagdeo, has agreed to a one-month bonus that will be made available after the officers go to the polls on November 21.
At an appreciation ceremony for the president on Thursday, heads of the Joint Services pleaded with the Head of State for the annual bonus and he agreed.
He explained that he did not want to give them a bonus to avoid criticism of ‘paying people to vote.’
At the ceremony, the officers of the Guyana Defence Force, Guyana Prison Service and Guyana Police Force got the opportunity to bid a special farewell to their Commander-in-Chief and to highlight the benefits the disciplined forces gained under his tenure.
The ceremony was highlighted with the presentation of a special plaque to the Head of State by the heads of services who offered individual remarks, lauding him for the increase in resources they received on an annual basis, training and maintaining a hold on crime, and for ensuring a cohesive disciplined services unit.    (GINA)
