GUYANA turned a new page in its history when the PPP/C was elected to office in 1992. It marked the beginning of a democracy which subsequent PPP/C administrations have fought very hard to retain, despite all sorts of threats and tactics of intimidation (PNC leader Desmond Hoyte was famously known for calling on his supporters to “bun down the country”, and PNC leaders relentlessly attacked Janet Jagan, elected in free and fair elections, forcing her to resign).
The PNC has a notorious history of rigged elections; and David Granger, as Burnham’s hand-picked man, must be held accountable for denying Guyanese the right to freely and fairly elect a government of their choice. Because of these rigged elections (in which the Guyana Defence Force was instrumental) and 28 years of PNC dictatorship, Guyana witnessed a decline in every measure of development – housing, education, income, race relations etc. This is the PNC’s legacy, and this is David Granger’s legacy. He is unfit to be the president of a democratic, multi-racial, multi-cultural, free Guyana. He has shown by his actions that he supports race politics and rigged elections. He has shown by his actions that he is for denying Guyanese equal voice and freedom of speech. He has shown by his actions that he supports ineptitude and lack of progress. He has shown, by his actions that he is unfit to be president. Guyanese must retain the democracy won in 1992, and reject APNU (code for PNC) because of what it stands for, and because of what David Granger stands for. By all means, keep the heat on the PPP/C; but APNU, with David Granger as leader, must never come to power.
Granger unfit to be President
