A MAN was charged, in court yesterday, with unlawful assault of his stepdaughter.
Kevin De Souza pleaded not guilty to the November 13 offence when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, accused of assaulting Penny Reaz.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant saw the defendant abusing her mother, became upset and intervened.
The prosecutor said a scuffle ensued between the victim and her stepfather, who was granted $25,000 bail until December 2.
