More than 57 % pension books distributed

MORE pensioners continue to uplift their pension books at the 156 pension distribution sites across the country, and the Ministry Human Services and Social Security, as of November 14, has reported that more than 24000 old age pension books have been given out.
Thus far, thousands of pensioners have expressed their satisfaction with the distribution system.
Rudolph Singh, of Alexander Village, said that he is very happy with the new system implemented by the ministry, while Bonny Paul, of South Ruimveldt, said that the system is very efficient and the officers were very friendly and helpful to him.
The pension book distribution exercise comes to an end on November 18.
However, persons who would have not collected their books by that time are asked to make contact with their local Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) Office or Regional Democratic Office (RDC).
Pensioners can also contact the Ministry on telephone numbers 223-6027 or 225-6202 for more information on the distribution exercise.
The administration, through the Human Services Ministry, has recognized the role that senior citizens have played in the development of society; and as such, has been investing huge sums to improving their lives.
This commitment by the administration continues to be demonstrated with the annual increases in old age pension. There are approximately 42,000 pensioners receiving $7,500 monthly. (GINA)
