Herstelling residents assured development will continue under PPP/C government

THE future presents an exciting opportunity for all residents living on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD), beyond the massive development already underway in Eccles, Herstelling and Providence.
According to Housing and Water Minister, Irfaan Ali, this planned growth will only be possible if all Guyanese vote for the People’s Progressive Party (PPP/C) come Election Day, November 28.
Ali made these remarks in his address to scores of Herstelling residents, during a PPP public meeting in the community last week.
He said, “This area will become an extension of Georgetown and will be a mega city, thousands of jobs will be created at the call centres to be erected, there will be new opportunities, a new mall. These are serious times; this is an important election that will determine whether Guyana loses the strong foothold that we have today. I plead with you never allow us to go backwards, and the only way we can do this is by ensuring that the PPP is returned to office.”
He took the opportunity to remind the gathering that the Government of Guyana, through the Ministry of Housing, has so far allocated more than 100,000 lots, and he announced that over the next five years  30,000 more will be distributed.
“We will not stop until every single Guyanese who qualifies for a house lot gets one. That is the promise of this government,” Ali asserted.
In this regard, he announced that neither of the contesting parties, A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), nor the Alliance for Change (AFC) is addressing the need for housing in their manifesto, a fact which proves that these parties do not have the best interest of the citizens at heart.
He maintained that, under the PPP/C, the country will continue on its progressive path towards a bright and prosperous future, but under an APNU or AFC administration, the opposite will occur.
Ali said, “Comrades, the APNU gave the gentle reminder of what atrocities await us on Nomination Day, when they trampled on democracy and invaded City Hall. This is the type of behaviour we must free ourselves from as a country, completely, they reminded that a tiger has changed its name, but still has the same stripes. If you look on the front page of the Guyana Chronicle, you will see a gathering of imposters, you will see that the leadership of APNU and AFC met and celebrated in handshakes. I say to you that they are one of the same coin, spin it heads or tails. A vote for AFC is a vote for APNU and a vote that stays home is also a vote for APNU.”
On this note, he urged those present and those listening to “listen to your conscience” and vote for the PPP/C, a party that does not condone criminality or anyone who tries to destroy the country.
He acknowledged that there still is a great amount of work left to be completed in the area, and assured that the PPP/C, through the politics love, unity, progress, and development, will deliver even greater results with the support of all.
