With 17 years service…

Police Corporal charged with forging letter of termination
A POLICE Corporal with 17 years service appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday on charges of forgery and uttering a forged document.

Andrew Griffith (no address given) was not required to plea as he is charged indictably.
One allegation against him said, on November 9, with intent to defraud, he uttered a writing, purporting to be issued by Police Commissioner Henry Greene, and the other said he forged the document.
Police Corporal Jairam Luckhai, prosecuting, said the accused was at Ogle International Airport and on his way to Suriname when he handed a letter of termination of service to an officer.
The prosecutor said the officer on duty became suspicious of the letter and alerted his superiors who later informed him that the accused is still a serving member of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) and that the commissioner did not sign any such documentation.
Griffith was placed on $100,000 bail and the cases were transferred to Sparendaam Court, to be called today.
