Rohee, Hinds point to development under PPP/C

PEOPLE’S Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) Executive Member, Mr. Clement Rohee recalled, Sunday, that its founder Dr. Cheddi Jagan had always advanced development with a human face.
In keeping with that philosophy, Rohee told Sunday’s Stewartville, West Coast Demerara, rally that the party keeps people at the centre of developmental programmes and policies.
He said the PPP/C has always kept faith with the Guyanese people and the 2011 elections is a question of trust.
“If you trust Donald Ramotar and the PPP/C, then the others (political parties) don’t count,” Rohee declared.
He said the PPP/C is grounded with the people and has not lost touch with them, the people who form the support base and have ensured the PPP/C victory at every election since 1992.
“The PPP/C is constantly reinventing and re-energising itself…that energy comes from the people. That confidence comes from the people. That optimism comes from the people…the motivation comes from the people,” Rohee stated.
He said the PPP/C has maintained credibility with the people, despite incidents like the defection of Mr. Moses Nagamootoo.
Lashing out at the now Alliance for Change (AFC) candidate, he said: “Nagamootoo will drown in his cesspool of lies.”
Rohee said the democracy fought for by the PPP/C is being defended by pretending protectors, and he questioned the fact that many of them were not supportive of the fight for free and fair elections, as the 2011 polls draw nearer.

CONTINUED ADVANCEMENT

The Minister of Home Affairs challenged the throng to vote for continued advancement, for the PPP/C to continue its journey with the Guyanese people in bringing a wave of greater transformation to the nation.
Rohee pledged that, once the PPP/C is returned to power after November 28, Guyana will see the construction of a super information highway, cheaper energy, rapid industrial and modernised agriculture development and enhanced public safety and security, among other planned advances.
He drew attention to the need for each supporter to adhere to their civic responsibility and cast their votes for progress to continue.
“The PPP/C will continue this journey of development,” Rohee said.
On the same platform, Prime Minister Samuel Hinds said the incumbent party is firm in what it stands for.
“The PPP/C is a party for all of us,” he added.
The returning Prime Ministerial Candidate remembered when the party took over in 1992, it was with a firm vision for a better Guyana.
“We got down to business. We rolled up our sleeves and joined with the people to rebuild our country…the work was not easy, but we had to recover.”
The Prime Minister pointed out that around Guyana visible signs of advances have been made and the dream for national unity is being realised more and more each day.
Another PPP/C victory will show clearly that Guyana is about national unity, he contended.
