PPP/C attracts mammoth crowd at Stewartvile rally

-along with huge motorcade
THE People’s Progressive Party/ Civic (PPP/C) drew thousands of Guyanese with a massive rally yesterday at Stewartville, West Coast Demerara.
The indicators of national unity at the rally were clear, as the people chanted Guyana good today, better tomorrow.
The mammoth crowd cheered in support of party stalwarts, as well as younger leaders, who are inspired by the incumbent party’s vision to propel Guyana and its people on a common path of peace, progress, and prosperity.
The speakers included religious leaders from Region 3 (Essequibo Islands/ West Demerara); young professionals including Senior Environmental Officer from Region 3, Ms. Amelia Hinds.

The presentations were interspersed with high-energy performances from local artistes – all of whom rocked with adaptations of their original songs in support of the PPP/C – the big hits being Mahendra Ramkhellawan singing the PPP elections jingle – an adaptation from his popular “Dem a watch me” and Terry Gajraj who took the massive crowd back an era with hits like ‘This time nah lang time’ and ‘Guyana babu’.
The delight of the highly-charged crowd was upped a notch by the Shakti Strings Band adaptation of ‘Wotless’ and other performances by Ricky Jai, Fiona Singh, Vanilla and Big Red, whose rendition of Dionne Warwick’s ‘That’s What Friends Are For’ saw everyone hand in hand moving to the beat.
Pieces such as these set the tone for speakers who took to the podium to extol the PPP/C’s developmental policies and programmes and to pledge a continuation of the transformation trend.
A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) and the Alliance for Change (AFC) were knocked for the lack of realistic and coherent plans for the future, as put forward by the PPP/C in their 2011 manifesto.
The question asked by each speaker was whether or not the Guyanese people trusted the future of Guyana to those whose history has recorded as proven failures when it comes to supporting the interests of the Guyanese people or the party that has remained grounded and kept faith with the average man, woman and child; delivering a better Guyana for all.
The crowd chanted steadily: ‘Guyana good today, better tomorrow!, ‘We are the party for the all the people’ and ‘PPP/C for Victory!.Come November 28 the Guyanese people will answer!
