In Region 10…

Western Union agents donate water dispensers to police
WESTERN Union (Guyana) handed over several water dispensers at Mackenzie Police Station last week, as part of its social responsibility to that community.
The donation, which cost about $100,000, was the result of collaboration with one of the money transfer major payout agents in Linden, S&J Supermarket.
Speaking on behalf of Western Union, Marketing Manager Mrs. Natheeah King Mendonca said people in Linden are very supportive and as such, the company sees it fit to render assistance in whatever way it can, when called upon.
She encouraged everyone gathered for the occasion to continue supporting the Western Union and Bill Express services.
The Western Union agent in the area, Mr. Ivor Leacock said he prompted the gesture to donate after he saw the need for water dispensers at the stations in Linden.
Expressing gratitude, Assistant Superintendent Michael Sutton said the ranks are very grateful for that kind of assistance and assured the gifts will be used for their intended purpose.
Sutton said they will be shared with the other outposts across Region 10 (Upper Demerara/Upper Berbice).
Earlier this year, Western Union presented an industrial gas stove to the Praise Tabernacle Assembly Feeding Programme for the pupils of Watooka Primary School, also in Mackenzie.
