Day of Interaction set for Essequibo tomorrow

THE Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport (MCYS), in collaboration with the National Sports Commission (NSC)-organised Day of Interaction for 2011, moves to the Essequibo Coast. All roads will lead to the Anna Regina Community Centre ground tomorrow, where an anticipated 1 000 athletes and officials will be involved in a number of sport disciplines including softball cricket, football, volleyball, circle tennis, dominoes, table tennis, and basketball.
The opening ceremony will include remarks by the Honourable Minister of Sport Dr Frank Anthony, Director of Sport Neil Kumar, Regional Chairman Ally Baksh and other regional and political functionaries.in the various communities.
As is the practice, there will be adequate security and medical presence and all are reminded to note that the Day of Interaction is a non-alcoholic affair. Hence the selling or consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited at the venue.
At the completion of the activities, trophies will be presented to the winning communities and individuals, along with the donation of sports gear and equipment to the region, to assist with the development of sports.
