Plouging starts for Spring Crop.

Some 32, 500 acres to be cultivated.
FARMERS in Region Two have started to plough their fields in preparation for the spring rice crop.
Reports said some 32,500 acres will be cultivated for the 2012 spring crop, and farmers are expected to sow their fields in late November, early December. Meanwhile the Drainage and Irrigation section of the regional administration is prepared to irrigate fields as soon as farmers are ready.
Reports said land preparation is taking place mostly in the extreme south and central areas of the Essequibo Coast, while harvesting is still in progress in some areas in the northern section and Cozier area. Harvesting was delayed in the Cozier area because of the recent heavy rainfall which caused already dried fields to be swamped again and the access dam to become muddy.
