Digicel/Stages Production host Ghett Out

DIGICEL Guyana and Stages Productions last night held its show “Ghett Out” at National Park Tarmac, Thomas Lands, Georgetown. On Friday, the cast members of the show held a press conference at Digicel Headquarters, Fort and Barrack Streets, Kingston, Georgetown, where they dubbed “Ghett Out” as an exciting Jamaican play which takes persons back to their roots depicting poverty and how they grew with a mixture of uptown and downtown vibes. Featuring a husband and wife having problems with a policeman terrorizing small people.
The cast members told the press conference that it is their third time in Guyana and where the show brings laughter and fun to an audience.
Head of marketing, Jacqueline James said that in an effort of giving back to the community they have introduced the theatrical play twice yearly and in 2010 they had “Oliver” and earlier this year there was “Ova meh dead body”.
James added that the show is for the entire family and as such encouraged all to come out.
Answering questions before the media got a sneak preview of the show the cast members said that these shows are in Guyana to ensure that drama does not die not only in Guyana but in the entire the Caribbean where young people can showcase their talent and at the same time gain experience lauding to the successes of the “Full Hundred” cast members.
When asked whether theatre in the Caribbean needs support the cast members said that they do with every country making a difference in lending the appropriate support in seeing the success of its local shows.
The show “Ghett Out” Starring Shebada Ramsey, Keith, Maxwell Grant, Garfield “Bad Boy” Trevor, Abigail Grant and others plus the National Drama Festival award winning play “Full Hundred” feathering Michael Ignatius, Tamika Henry, Sheldon Braithwaite, Kijana Lewis and others.
The Digicel sponsored show started at 18:00 hrs and was held on October 22, 2011 at NATI Ground in New Amsterdam, Berbice and written by Michael Denton and directed by B. L Allen. (Michel Outridge)
