Two in Bourda Market bust fined, jailed

TWO men were, yesterday, each sentenced to three years imprisonment and fined $30,000 on separate convictions for drug trafficking.
Troy Franklin and Edgar Vanderstoop (no addresses given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded guilty.
Franklin admitted that, on October 16, he had 27 grammes of cannabis (marijuana) and Vanderstoop two grammes of cocaine for the purpose.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said ranks on mobile patrol in the Bourda Market area of Georgetown saw the defendants playing cards and searches of them yielded the narcotics.
The convicts denied having trafficked in them and said the substances were for their personal use.
