HANSRANIE Sewdat, 45, of Number 48 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, died from shock and haemorrhage due to an incise wound to the throat.
This is according to the findings of a post mortem report disclosed by the police yesterday.
Hansranie’s body was found at her home at about 16:30 hrs on Friday, October 14, by her nine-year-old daughter. A woman’s tights were tied around her throat.
Reports are that the woman and her reputed husband, a well-known rice farmer, had shared a turbulent relationship, and had quarrelled often.
He was arrested following the murder, and is still in police custody pending investigations.
He is believed to be the main suspect, since it was reported that he had left his daughter at the work site and had returned home, and had returned to the worksite sometime later with food and drinks for the child.
