….Lanferman is MVP; Freeman best goalie; Hector highest goal scorer
INAUGURAL champions of the Trophy Stall sponsored West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) Under-17 League, Den Amstel,  the runner-up team Uitvlugt, 3rd placed Seawall FC based at Pouderoyen,  and 4th place Eagles hailing from Stewartville all received their prizes on Wednesday evening  when the presentation took place at the Den Amstel Community Centre. On hand to assist with the presentation was Owner of the Trophy Stall Ramesh Sunich who in brief remarks pledged his continued support for the tournament on an annual basis.
Also present were Guyana Football Federation President (ag) along with other officials of the West Demerara Football Association.
Adjudged as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament was Uitvlugt’s Delon Lanferman who apart from ending as the second highest goal scorer with 13-goals behind Den Amstel’s Andre Hector, played a vital role in his team just missing out on the championship trophy on goal difference.
Seawall FC’s Kester Freeman was named the Best Goal Keeper of the tournament. Wales FC copped two trophies despite finishing 5th of the seven teams that competed. They gained the nod for the Fair Play trophy while their coach Kelvin Roberts was named the Best Coach of the tournament.
Den Amstel’s Kester Dundas was named as the Most Promising Player of the competition. All the individual awardees were presented with trophies while the Best Coach received a plaque.
Trophies were also presented to the first to fourth placed teams while gold, silver and bronze medals were handed over to the top three teams.
Sunich who said that he was impressed with the level of play, commitment and discipline displayed by the players based on reports, will continue to support the development of young people and sports in Guyana.
He noted that Trophy Stall is always in the forefront of giving back to the community from which they are support. After hearing the plight of the Den Amstel team with regards to uniform, Sunich promised that he will outfit the team for the 2nd edition of the Under-17 competition next year.
Coordinator of the competition Adrian Giddings was complimented for the fine job that he did along with Pinky Green in pulling off the tournament.
