Argument over minibus change results in assault charge

DEVON Moore, 26, was fined $10,000 with the alternative of three weeks imprisonment yesterday, for disorderly behaviour.
The defendant (no address given) pleaded guilty, before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell, to the charge which said he committed the offence on Water Street, Georgetown.
But he pleaded not guilty to assaulting Deborah Smith on October 6 and was put on $20,000 bail until November 1.

Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was a passenger in a minibus and the defendant was the conductor.
The prosecutor said Smith paid Moore with a $100 note and was given $20 change but she demanded more and an argument ensued between them.
During the confrontation, Moore pushed Smith and a police officer, who was in the vicinity, tried to make peace but Moore continued in a disorderly manner.
