Umpires and matches identified for GCA action this weekend

WITH the unavailability of cricket grounds being a major humbug to the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA), only six venues will see action in that entity’s first and second division tournament which is being played under various sponsorship. Two of those matches will be played in the first division tournament which is being sponsored by the Carib Beer/Friends of Cricket/Heroes Cup, while the other four will be competed in the second division, thanks to the kind sponsorship of Noble House Seafoods.
Having won the first division title last year, the Queenstown based Demerara Cricket Club also known as the ‘Home of the Legends,’ will host the Guyana National Industrial Corporation under the guidance of Cyril Garnath and Mario Nichols.
The other encounter will pit Georgetown Cricket Club who recently won the Queensway 50 overs Open Competition, taking on Guyana Defence Force at Everest Cricket Club ground, with Edward Nichols and Hortence Isaacs being the men in charge, with both matches commencing at 9.30hrs.
In the Noble House Seafood second division tournament which bowls off at 10.30hrs each day, Ace Warriors and GCC will clash at the University of Guyana ground (Joseph Jeffrey and Anthony Ramsahoi, DCC and Third Class at GNIC (Linden Matthews and Huevel Cunha), MYO and Malteenoes Sports Club at MYO (Matthew Kissoon and Nolan Hawke) and Vikings and GYO at GYO (Ernest  Hinds and Montgomery Chester).
