IT was a fitting thank you ceremony befitting a president, one who has done very well judging the times he lived in; an empty treasury, broken down infrastructure, a hostile and subversive opposition among the plethora of woes.
Nevertheless, he did not quit but rose to the task and has done us proud. We are glad that Guyana can now lift her head, speak up and be counted. So thank you sir! There is more work to be done, I must add, a huge lot more to be done as Guyana pulls itself along that rough road of development; daunting yes, but not insurmountable.
The event can be considered great, gala and extravagant even when it is adjudicated from the opposing benches. Whichever side of the fence you come from none cannot run away from the fact that President Jagdeo has brought Guyana up out of an abysmal situation to one in which we can now feel proud to be called Guyanese and for this cause we say thanks. Now to think of it this is only the exit ceremony of a great leader; what will it be when the DON comes in, I want to be there!
Whilst there is unity, togetherness and sense of purpose in one camp, there is factionalism, infighting and acrimony within the corridors of the opposition. There is no palm tree this election hence no PNCR which is a giant slap in the face of all those who basked beneath the shade and protection of that infamous tree. And what has become of the AFC? Suddenly by some caprice of nature Raphael Trotman has been miraculously healed of his malady and has made that sorrowful decision to be Ramjattan’s running mate; what a pitiful tale of two contrary partners.
The handwriting is on the wall come election day, comrades!
