DEN Amstel’s Andre Hector single-handedly led his side to a crushing 6-2 win over Wales United when action in the Trophy Stall Under-17 league continued at the Den Amstel Community Centre ground this past weekend.
Hector, the leading marksman of the tournament, which is in its second week and is organised by West Demerara Football Association (WDFA), has a total of eight goals from two matches.
In their showdown against Wales, Hector netted in the 17th, 18th, 26th, 48th, 68th and 89th minutes while Levi Anthony (42nd) and Sherwin Bernard (55th) accounted for Wales’ goals.
Also recording victories at the weekend were Stewartville who got past Eagles FC 2-1, Seawall won via walkover from Stewartville, Uitvlugt hammered Young Achievers 5-2 and Eagles soared to a convincing 5-1 victory over the seemingly unpredictable Wales.
During the first weekend of matches Den Amstel thrashed Young Achievers 5-0, Seawall FC defeated Wales 3-1 and a similar score line was the result in the Eagles/Uitvlugt battle in favour of the former while Stewartville and Young Achievers played to a 1-1 stalemate.
More matches are scheduled to be played this weekend at the same venue.
