ANOTHER man was remanded to prison yesterday, on a charges of having an illegal gun and ammunition in the interior.
Thirty-seven-year old Theodore Mendoza (no address given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded not guilty to having, on September 16, been in possession of a .38 revolver and three matching rounds, while not being the holder of a licence.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the defendant was searched at Kanaru Junction after ranks observed him putting something inside the tray of a pick-up.
Defence counsel James Bond argued that Mendoza was in the vehicle, as well as other persons, when it was searched and, although they were arrested, only the defendant was charged.
Mendoza was refused bail and the case transferred to Mahdia Court for October 19.
