National Drainage and Enhancement Programme hosts seminar

A one-day seminar was conducted in Region 2 by the National Drainage and Enhancement Programme. The venue was at Anna Regina, Essequibo, and the Coordinator was Mr Visham Boodhoo. Foremen who supervise more than 175 workers attended the seminar. Representatives from the five Neighbourhood Democratic Councils also attended.
The foremen were given First Aids Kits and practical demonstrations were done by a VSO attached to Suddie Public Hospital.
The lectures comprised how to deal with emergencies, be it drowning, cardiac arrest, snake bite, bone fractures, fatal wounds and unconsciousness. Medex Suklall from the NIS used a projector to deliver his lecture on emergencies and how to apply CPR, arrest bleeding, applying splints and ways of transporting injured persons.
Mr Vishan Boodhoo, who is the Project Coordinator for the coastal regions including Region 1 spoke of the expectation of the programme, its sustainability and proper accountability of work schedule, financial prudence, use of tools and punctuality.
Mr Boodhoo dealt with health care issues since the type of work is prone to contamination. Boodhoo explained that the programme is government sponsored and only the regional supervisor has the right to employ.
