NACRA hosts workshops starting today

THE North American and Caribbean Rugby Association (NACRA) will be conducting an Elite Sevens coaching workshop, which is sponsored by the Commonwealth Games Federation along with the Guyana Rugby Football Union in Guyana from today, September 16, and will run until September 18. The Elite Sevens Workshop will be conducted at the Scouts Association of Guyana, Woolford Avenue, and will commence at 17:00hrs when the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Dr Frank Anthony is expected to make an address.
The workshop will be conducted by Scott Harland, NACRA Regional Development Officer and John Long, Rugby Canada Women’s Head Coach and Assistant Sevens Coach.
NACRA will also, in collaboration with the Unit of Allied Arts, Ministry of Education, conduct a Phys Ed/Basic Rugby Workshop for Physical Education Teachers, sponsored by PAHO, on Monday, September 19.
The Allied Arts Phys Ed Workshop is being held at the Allied Arts office, Queen’s College Compound, and will commence at 15:00hrs on Monday and will involve Phys Ed Teachers from a number of schools where rugby is already being coached or will be introduced as a sport on the curriculum.
The Phys Ed Workshop will be conducted by Scott Harland.
Activities to be touched on during the workshops include Strategy work – the restart, practice design and schedule, individual skills development, nutrition, recovery and injury treatment, playing patterns, decision-making and team sessions.
